Grandma and Her Ghosts is one of Taiwan’s most iconic original animation IPs. Since its debut in 1998, it has accompanied generations of audiences and become a cherished part of Taiwan’s collective memory. Centered around the mystical Grandma, a Taoist priest, and her grandson Dou-Dou, the story brings to life a fantastical world deeply rooted in Taiwanese culture. Alongside beloved characters such as Kulo the black cat, Shiro the white dog, and The Flat the flattened snake, the franchise weaves together folk beliefs, family bonds, and imaginative storytelling into a uniquely Taiwanese universe. With the launch of the sequel film Granny and Magic Sprout, the IP continues to expand through new content, experiences, and cross-industry collaborations.
