About my journey from Taiwan to Canada
I was never impressive in my studies—finished 7th last in my undergrad and dead last in grad school. No study abroad experience either.
To broaden my horizons, I set myself a goal for my 20s: I want to work and live overseas!
So I hustled—working full-time as a software engineer during the day, improving my English at night, and strengthening my coding skills on weekends. Within three years of graduating, I landed offers from Taiwan’s top tech companies, the largest U.S. health insurtech, Amazon, and multiple software roles in Canada.
In 2021, I took a leap of faith, left my dream job at Amazon Taiwan, and started my professional career in Canada at the age of 27. Rather than spending years heavily investing in tuition for a local degree like most immigrants, I made it work my own way. And a little over a year later, I achieved my permanent residency!🍁
